President Bush is currently doing a tour in Africa. I believe it's a 6 day trip to 5 different countries. South Africa isn't one of them but it's kinda cool that our future former president is in the same area as us.
Tonight we had our Culture Pre-Port meeting. This always happens 2 days before we reach port. Then tomorrow, the night before we reach port we have a logistics Pre-Port meeting. The pre-port was pretty uneventful. We had our inter-port student from Cape Town University talk about Cape Town and where we should go for what as well as where we shouldn't go, since South Africa has the highest murder rate in the world. We should all be safe though as long as we don't go out into the suburbs by ourselves and stay around downtown Cape Town. There is so much to do in South Africa it's ridiculous. Other than a Safari a lot of people are going skydiving, bungie jumping off of the tallest bridge in the world, hiking Table Mountain, and doing community visits and service projects among other things that I'll be doing, like visiting Cape Winelands and going shark diving.
After the pre-port we had our sea social. Each sea gets a sea social and it's the one time that we're allowed in the teachers lounge to basically just hang out, dance, have some ice cream, and enjoy our 4 drinks. It ended up being pretty fun though! Better than I expected since I'm starting to get to know some of the people in my sea pretty well.
